Had it not been for the Grace of Allah upon you, none of you would have been purified, But Allah purifies whomesoever he desires” (quran 24:21)
From this ayat it becomes apparent that toogether with striving to attain spiritual purification it is also essential to attain the Graces and Mercy of Allah Rabbul izzat. We have to constantly entreat him to include us amongst those whome he has purified.
Movlana Rumi writes:
O Allah! If a thousand chains of carnal desires and satanaic deceptions have shackled our feet, we have nothing to fear if your Graces are upon us.”
The famous Arabist H A R Gibb was open upon about the style of the Qur’an. In his words: …
the Meccans still demanded of him a miracle, and with remarkable boldness and self confidence Mohammad appealed as a supreme confirmation of his mission to the Koran itself. Like all Arabs they were the connoisseurs of language and rhetoric. Well, then if the Koran were his own composition other men could rival it. Let them produce ten verses like it. If they could not (and it is obvious that they could not), then let them accept the Koran as an outstanding evident miracle.
And in some other place, talking about the Prophet(P) and the Qur’an, he states:
Though, to be sure, the question of the literary merit is one not to be judged on a priori grounds but in relation to the genius of Arabic language; and no man in fifteen hundred years has ever played on that deep-toned instrument with such power, such boldness, and such range of emotional effect as Mohammad did.
As a literary monument the Koran thus stands by itself, a production unique to the Arabic literature, having neither forerunners nor successors in its own idiom. Muslims of all ages are united in proclaiming the inimitability not only of its contents but also of its style. …. and in forcing the High Arabic idiom into the expression of new ranges of thought the Koran develops a bold and strikingly effective rhetorical prose in which all the resources of syntactical modulation are exploited with great freedom and originality.
if we and everyone remembered these short advises the world and life we live in would be a better more peaceful place
It is related that the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi wasalam said “Associate with one who shuns you. Forgive the one who oppresses you. Give to the person who gives you nothing. I was commanded to invite people to the divine path by menus of wisdom, sound advice, talking, and listening, always urging them toward what was better… Anas Bin Malik used to relate: “I served the Prophet for ten years. In no work at all did he ever say, ‘You have done wrong” or, ‘Why did you do that?’ When I did something well, he used to bless me. Whenever I did something that displeased him, he would say; ‘The command of God is an absolute decree’ (33:35). He himself used to arrange the fodder of his own mount. He used to come home and light the lamp himself. When the strap of his sandels broke he himself replaced it. He used to mend his torn garments with his very own hands and he would help the servants in the house.”
I was reading a book yesterday and learnt some very interesting facts about the Prophet Idris Alahis Salam, somethings which I had not known before.
Well he was the third Prophet of Islam after Adam and Seth (A.S.). But more interestingly:
- Hazrat Idrees (alaihis-salaam) was the first person to write with the pen, thus becoming the inventor of writing in this world.
- He was also the first to manufacture weapons, and with the same weapons he waged jihad against the children of Qaabeel. After the death of Qaabeel, the generations that came after him had rejected Allah and His Prophets. So Hazrat Idrees waged war against them, for they had now become the enemies of Allah.
- Hazrat Idrees (alaihis-salaam) was granted by Allah knowledge of astronomy and arithmetic, and he taught this to people.
- He also invented the art of sewing clothes, at a time when people used the skins of animals to cover their bodies. Hazrat Idrees taught people how to sew clothing.
- Another practice introduced by him into the world was the method of measuring and weighing.
All this knowledge came to him through Wahi (revelation) from Allah.
Also Idrees Alaihis salaam too was raised to the heavens and given the knowledge of the unseen. Both Christians and muslims agree upon this. The Quranic ayah which refers to this is fact is
Verily! He was a man of truth (and) a prophet. We raised him to a high station.
An interesting story which I read relating to him (alahis salam) is that when he was raised to the heavens he asked the Angel of death to give him a taste of death i.e to take his soul out and put it back so he would know what it would feel like as “Every soul shall taste of death”. So the Angel of death took his soul and then put it back for him.
Then he asked the angels to show him the fire of hell as every person would pass over it (see it) so he was shown the hell. Then he asked to be taken to heaven (jannah) so the angels took him to Jannah. Once he was in Jannah he said that after a person enters Jannah he will not be taken out again so he wished to stay there and Allah allowed this. Thus the writer said the Prophet Idrees Alaihis salaam is actually alive in the heavens and indeed the Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wasalam met him on the 4th Heaven on the Night of Meraj (asencion)

“Happy is he who looks at his own deeds and appoints them as pleaders to his Lord.”
“None can show better gratitude for Allah’s favors than he who shares them with others.”
“Do not envy people for what they have as they will only enjoy it for a short while.”

“The real joy of life is to have wisdom.”
I was reading something yesterday in a book “tazkiratul Ambiya” (stories of the Prophets) about Yousuf Alaihis salaam when he saw his mother (Rahils)grave he went to it and broke down in tears. He had been separated from his father, thrown into a well by his brothers, shackled in chains, etc so naturally he was upset. To cut a long story short his words and tears made all of the Angels in the heavens cry. Allah thus sent gabriel to help him and Gabriel asked Yousuf what he would like him to do, but Yousuf said “Hilm” was the practice/ nature of Allah, i.e Allah didn’t do things in Haste thus he too was going to practice Hilm and was not going to ask Allah to solve his problems all at once.
So this got me thinking What is Hilm, ie its nature, whats the definition? As we need it too. Thus I found this definition:
“Hilm or perseverance means to hold in check the nafs in the face of events which are distasteful to one.”
Allah loves beauty,
The Prophet was the Beautiful example;
Hence the sunnah is Beautiful;
Thus whosoever adopts the sunnah will be Beautiful in the eyes of Allah, the kareem.
It is sunnah to sleep early after the night prayer.
